Hazardous Materials Technician (HMT) (47203W_02) Practice Exam

The responder who is certified to apply a patch to a cargo tank leaking sulfuric acid must possess specific training and qualifications recognized in hazardous materials response protocols. This process is critical for ensuring safety and effectiveness in mitigating hazardous materials incidents.

In this scenario, Responder A. Salt is the only responder mentioned with the qualifications required for this task, which include specialized training in dealing with corrosive materials like sulfuric acid and the knowledge to properly implement emergency containment measures, such as patching a leak.

Patching a cargo tank leaking sulfuric acid is a complex task that involves understanding the chemical properties of sulfuric acid, the nature of the cargo tank materials, and the appropriate techniques for sealing a leak safely to prevent further contamination or hazards. Responder A. Salt’s certification signifies competency in these areas, making them the appropriate choice.

In contrast, Responder N. Gard may lack the necessary training or certification for such a specific and hazardous procedure, thus indicating that they are not qualified to undertake this task. Hence, only Responder A. Salt is equipped to handle the situation properly.
